Rangers Rally in Second Half to Defeat Lamar Community College, 65–59

HOBBS, New Mexico — December 12, 2025 — The Ranger College men's basketball team closed out play Friday with a strong second-half surge, defeating Lamar Community College 65–59 at a neutral-site matchup in Hobbs, New Mexico. Ranger outscored the Runnin' Lopes 41–29 after halftime to secure the victory.

Second-Half Surge Seals the Win

After trailing 30–24 at the break, the Rangers found their rhythm offensively, shooting 48.1% in the second half while tightening up defensively to limit Lamar's scoring opportunities. Ranger's improved ball movement and rebounding presence proved decisive down the stretch.

Balanced Scoring Effort

Sophomore Mafatime Ndiaye led the Rangers with 15 points, knocking down three three-pointers and adding a block in 33 minutes. Devin Whitten followed with 13 points, including two triples, while contributing five rebounds. Jaylen Drane added 10 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, providing a steady presence late in the game.

Dominance on the Glass

Ranger controlled the boards, outrebounding Lamar 46–39, led by Dave Meriwether, who posted 11 rebounds along with 8 points and 2 blocks. Gavin Headings added 8 rebounds and 7 points, helping the Rangers limit second-chance opportunities.

Defensive Impact

The Rangers recorded five blocks and six steals, using defensive pressure to disrupt Lamar's offensive flow. Ranger also capitalized on key stops late, closing the game on a strong defensive stand to preserve the win.
