Nakito Wins Mustang Derby Title, Ranger College Women's Cross-Country Finishes Runner-Up
WICHITA FALLS, Texas — September 11, 2025 — The Ranger College women's cross-country team turned in another standout performance at the Mustang Derby Collegiate, finishing 2nd overall behind Midwestern State.
Individual Champion
Freshman Elizabeth Nakito captured the individual title, crossing the line first in the women's 4K with a time of 14:20.
Team Scoring
Ranger's depth carried them to the runner-up finish with five scoring runners inside the top 25:
- Alyssa Joe Mabry — 10th place (15:06.2)
- Victaline Mutai — 11th place (15:19.3)
- Macie Marie Morales — 21st place (15:48.2)
- Julia Perez — 23rd place (16:02.6, PR)
The team scored 55 points with a total time of 1:16:37, trailing only Midwestern State's 26 points.
Building Momentum
With Nakito's historic win and multiple top-25 finishes, the Lady Rangers showed they can contend with strong NCAA programs as the season heats up.

"It's been a solid week of training, and the progress is clear," said Coach James Majenge. "The women are pushing each other every day, and Liz has really stepped up to set the pace. That kind of leadership will carry us forward as the season builds."
