Ranger College Volleyball Outlasts North Central Texas in Five-Set Battle

GAINESVILLE, Texas — October 29, 2025 — The Ranger College volleyball team earned a gritty road victory Wednesday night, defeating North Central Texas College in a thrilling five-set match (25–11, 22–25, 23–25, 25–22, 15–7). The win lifted the Lady Rangers to 11-6 in conference play and 16-11 overall, keeping them among the top teams in the league standings.

Balanced Attack Keys Comeback

After dropping the second and third sets, Ranger regrouped and dominated the final two behind a balanced offensive effort.

  • Etsel Ramirez powered the attack with 16 kills, 22 digs, and a service ace for 17.5 total points.
  • Eunice Cervantes added 14 kills, 4 aces, and 6 block assists to lead the team with 22 points.
  • Faith Sosa contributed 10 kills, while Carlota Mora posted 8 kills, 7 digs, and 6 block assists (14 points).

Setting and Defense

Setter Jenna Rios directed the offense with 28 assists and 2 aces, while Bailey Black added 15 assists, 11 digs, and 2 aces. Dafne Sosa anchored the defense with a match-high 24 digs and 8 assists.

At the net, the Lady Rangers dominated with 17 block assists, led by Cervantes, Mora, and Kymberly Sheppard (7 kills, 2 block assists).

Closing It Out

After forcing a decisive fifth set with a clutch 25–22 win in the fourth, Ranger surged ahead early and sealed the match 15–7. The victory showcased the Lady Rangers' resilience and depth in one of the toughest road environments of the season.

Looking Ahead

With the win, Ranger College improves to 11-6 in conference and 16-11 overall. The Lady Rangers will look to build on their momentum as their final home game is played on Saturday November 1st and prepare for postseason competition.
