Rangers Take Down Cisco in Home Conference Opener

RANGER, Texas — January 10, 2026 — The Ranger College women's basketball team opened conference play at home with a strong 67–55 victory over cross-county rival Cisco College on Saturday afternoon at Ron Butler Gymnasium. The win moves the Rangers to 1–1 in conference play and 6–10 overall.

Fields Fuels the Offense

Akyla Fields delivered a standout performance, pouring in a game-high 27 points on 8-of-17 shooting while knocking down six three-pointers. Fields was perfect at the free-throw line (5-for-5) and added five rebounds and four steals, setting the tone on both ends of the floor.

Balanced Support

Imani Johnson provided strong secondary scoring with 15 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc while adding seven rebounds. Kayleigh Murphy controlled the paint with nine rebounds, including four on the offensive glass, and chipped in six points.

Off the bench, Favour Emeka added eight points and four assists, while Mia Ross contributed six points, four assists, and five steals, helping Ranger maintain momentum throughout the game.

Defense and Shooting Make the Difference

Ranger shot 43.4% from the field and 37.0% from three-point range, while forcing 25 turnovers and recording 14 steals. The Rangers also dominated the boards with a 37–21 rebounding advantage, limiting Cisco's second-chance opportunities and allowing Ranger to steadily build its lead.
