Ranger College Women’s Basketball Earns First Road Win, Defeats Western Texas 65–55
SNYDER, Texas — December 1, 2025 — The Ranger College women's basketball team picked up its first road victory of the season Monday night, defeating the Western Texas College Lady Westerners 65–55. The win improves the Lady Rangers to 3–5 overall, marking back-to-back victories over Western Texas.
Fields Leads With 20 Points
Akyla Fields delivered another strong performance, scoring 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting while adding 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals. Fields also hit two three-pointers, pacing the Rangers' backcourt attack.
Johnson and Murphy Provide Major Support
Imani Johnson was equally impressive, finishing with 17 points, including three three-pointers, while collecting 6 rebounds and a steal.
Kayleigh Murphy controlled the paint with 8 points and a team-high 9 rebounds, helping Ranger secure a decisive 48–37 rebounding advantage over the Lady Westerners.
Bench Production Sparks the Win
Shamariah Gibbs added 6 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, while Mia Ross contributed 4 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Ranger's reserves outscored Western Texas 15–7, giving the Lady Rangers key momentum throughout the contest.
Dominant First Quarter Sets the Tone
Ranger opened the game on fire, shooting 62.5% in the first quarter and jumping out to a 25–10 lead. The Lady Rangers never trailed, holding Western Texas to just 20% from three and converting 24 points off turnovers thanks to a suffocating defensive effort.
