Ranger College Women’s Basketball Earns Second Straight Home Victory, Tops Western Texas 73–55

RANGER, Texas — November 24, 2025 — The Ranger College women's basketball team defended its home court once again on Monday night, defeating the Western Texas College Lady Westerners 73–55 inside Ron Butler Gymnasium. The win improves the Lady Rangers to 2–5 on the season, with both victories coming at home.

Fields Leads the Way With 22

Akyla Fields powered the Ranger offense, scoring a game-high 22 points on 8-of-21 shooting, including four three-pointers, while grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double. She also added 4 steals, providing key defensive pressure throughout the night.

Balanced Attack Fuels Win

Mia Ross continued her consistent play, finishing with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while going a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.
Kayleigh Murphy was dominant on the glass, posting a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, helping Ranger control the paint and limit second-chance opportunities for Western Texas.

Off the bench, Shamariah Gibbs provided a spark with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 7 rebounds, while Favour Emeka contributed 4 points and 5 rebounds in strong supporting minutes.

Defensive Presence Makes the Difference

Ranger's defense was a major factor in the win, forcing 17 turnovers and collecting 12 steals. The Lady Rangers held Western Texas to 25.9% shooting, including just 3-of-18 from beyond the arc, while outrebounding the Lady Westerners 51–38.

Ranger College (2–5) will now prepare for a rematch as they travel to Snyder, TX, on Monday, December 1, to take on Western Texas College once again. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
