Blinn ekes out win over RC women
Blinn College scored 21 points in the fourth quarter on Monday and scrambled to claim a 65-55 victory over the Ranger College Lady Rangers in a non-conference showdown in the Ron Butler Gym.
With the loss, the Ranger College women closed out their non-conference schedule with a 3-9 mark.
Despite the loss, RC head coach Mark Morefield said he was pleased with the team's overall effort since returning from the holiday break.
"These last two games we have competed and are a different team than we were before the holiday break," he said. "We are trending in the right direction."
The Lady Rangers held their own against Blinn throughout the contest as they garnered a balanced scoring attack from Mariah Houston, Alani Owens and Aisha Martin. Ranger College scored into double figures in all four quarters.
Blinn staged a late push in the first quarter to grab a slim 14-10 lead.
The Lady Rangers answered back from there. Ranger College pumped in 14 points in the second and 15 more in the third en route to heading into the final stanza down by just five, at 44-39.
