Lady Rangers drop 93-55 decision to Murray State

The Ranger College Lady Rangers played well for three quarters on Monday against Murray State. Unfortunately, games are made up of four quarters.

The RC women scored just seven points in the second quarter and enabled Murray State to break open a close game en route to a 93-55 non-conference victory.

"Another cold quarter put us in the hole," said Ranger College head coach Mark Morefield. "Second quarter cold shooting and only scoring seven points was the difference maker. We need to grow up fast regardless if we are young. The cold shooting quarter in each game needs to come to an end."

Mariah Houston helped the Lady Rangers get off to a fast start. She poured in 10 points in the first 10 minutes of the affair and helped RC battle its way to within 25-21 at the start of the second.

The offense stalled from there. RC collected just seven points from Anastasija Cernova in the frame and went into the half trailing 55-28.

Murray State closed out the game with a 40-27 run in the second half.

Houston and Cernova led all RC scorers with 15 points apiece.

With the loss, RC slipped to 2-7 heading into their Dec. 12 showdown with Midland College.
