Lady Rangers drop two at TVCC tournament

The growing process for the Ranger College women's basketball team continued this past weekend as they dropped a pair of tough decisions at the Trinity Valley Community College Invitational Tournament.

Ranger, which is off to a 1-4 start under new head coach Mark Morefield, opened the tournament with a 61-56 loss to Paris Junior College. PJC rallied from an early 18-16 deficit to notch the win.

Paris Navi Brown led the PJC rally. She sank nine three-point shots in the contest, including seven in the final three quarters of play.

Mariah Houston paced the RC women with 18. Aisha Martin added 11.

The Lady Rangers closed out their tournament appearance with a 73-56 loss to Panola College on Friday.

Panola used a huge advantage on the glass to claim the victory. The Fillies outrebounded RC by 19 boards.

Houston led all RC scorers with 15 points. Elaina Burns and Martin added nine and eight, respectively.

The Lady Rangers will compete in the Blinn College tournament this weekend in Brenham.
