Rangers move into national rankings

The Ranger College men's soccer team moved into historic territory earlier this week – the national rankings.

Off to an unbeaten start to the season, the Rangers debuted in the NJCAA Division I men's soccer poll on Sept. 9, checking in at No. 19 overall. The ranking marks the first time in the past five seasons the RC men's soccer program has been ranked among the nation's elite.

Ranger College improved to 6-0-1 for the season on Sept. 8 with a 1-0 victory over Jacksonville College.

The Rangers will open Region 5 play on Friday when they host Hill College at Rangers Field. Games will begin at 2 p.m. with the RC women facing off against the Hill College Lady Rebels. The men's game will begin at 4 p.m.

Eastern Florida State College held onto the No. 1 spot in the nation. EFSC collected all nine first-place votes en route to tallying 140 points from a survey of national coaches and administrators. Salt Lake Community College was a close second with 133 points. Indian Hills, Cowley County and Angelina College rounded out the top five spots.
