Bio
Athletic Director Scott Norwood is back at the helm of Ranger's baseball program, entering his eighth season as Head Baseball Coach at Ranger College and his 21st season as a collegiate head coach. A member of the 600-win club, Norwood has built a reputation as one of the winningest coaches in Oklahoma and Texas baseball history while leading successful programs at the junior college, NCAA Division I, and NCAA Division II levels.
Norwood has served as Ranger College's Athletic Director since 2021 and previously guided the Rangers baseball program from 2017-2022. During his first tenure as head coach, Ranger won more than 120 games, recorded its first winning season in more than a decade, and earned its first appearance in the Region V Baseball Tournament in nearly 40 years. In 2022, the Rangers posted a school-record 37 wins, finished third in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference, and secured a berth in the regional tournament.
Prior to Ranger College, Norwood spent six seasons as head coach at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, leading the Trojans to nearly 150 victories and the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship. The title earned UALR its first-ever NCAA Division I Regional appearance.
Norwood's coaching career also includes successful stops at Mercyhurst University, Sterling College, and Ouachita Baptist University. At Ouachita Baptist, he compiled a 158-77 record and led the Tigers to the NCAA Division II National Championship game in 2008. Following a 51-win season, he was named Division II Southcentral Coach of the Year and Natural State Baseball Coach of the Year.
A graduate of Oral Roberts University, Norwood began his collegiate head coaching career in 1998. As a player, he helped Connors State College advance to the NJCAA Division I College World Series in 1985.
With more than 600 career victories and over two decades of coaching experience, Norwood continues to provide leadership to Ranger College Athletics while guiding the Rangers baseball program into its next era of success.
