Rangers Win Nail-Biter in Houston, Top Wharton County 7–6
HOUSTON, Texas — February 5, 2026 — Ranger College baseball survived a dramatic late comeback Thursday night, edging Wharton County Junior College 7–6 in a tightly contested matchup in Houston.

Late Rally Turns the Tide
Wharton opened the scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run double, but Ranger answered in the eighth with a decisive five-run rally to take a 6–2 lead. The big swing in the inning came on a sacrifice fly by Jeremiah Torres, which drove in two runs and sparked the Rangers' comeback.
Wharton tied the game at six in the bottom of the ninth on a home run by Parker Collier, sending the contest to extra innings. Ranger regained the lead in the top of the 10th when an error allowed the eventual winning run to score.
Balanced Effort at the Plate
Ranger finished with six hits, led by Samuel Kelley, who went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Ashton Fisher, Joey Rodriguez, Jackson Hopper, and Reid Richard each collected hits, while Torres drove in two runs on the night.
